Yep, we finally released the Merlin today! WOOHOO!! The re-imped feather stayed put and after one last look at Dr. Loftus' handiwork (sorry about the blurry pic)...

...Shona released it back into the wild.

At which point, instead of flying as far away from us as possible, as I would like to think I would if I had just been released after a few months in solitary confinement, it flew back over our heads and landed in the tree right behind us.

And then it just sat there, alternately glaring and bobbing up and down at us.
